Q : How much does the class cost?
A : The Get Ready classes are free of charge.
Q : What should I bring?
A : Bring a pen or pencil and a notepad to take notes.
Q: What materials will be provided?
A: You will receive a handbook that covers all of the information in the class.
Q : Will I learn First Aid and CPR?
A : No, first Aid / CPR is a separate course that you should take.
Q : Who teaches these classes?
A : Volunteers from Southern Marin that have been trained by the fire department will lead the classes. Some of the trainers are CERT graduates.
Q : How long are the classes?
A : Classes are approximately 2 hours long.
Q: What size are the classes?
A: They range from a few to aproximately 25 people.
Q : Can I go to any class in Marin or do I have to go to one in Southern Marin?
A : You may go to any class offered in Marin that is convenient for you.
Q: Do I need to register in advance?
A: Yes. All class participants must register. This is to make sure that we have enough space available for all people who want to attend a class on a particular date and time.
Q: Can I change my class location or time if I need to?
A: Yes. Please contact your coordinator that you made your original reservation with.
Q: Can I take this class online?
A: Yes. However, you will derive more from attending a live class.
Q : Will this class prepare me for any disaster?
A : The Get Ready class will give you the information you need to prepare for disaster. You will still need to obtain supplies, store them in one location, develop a family plan and conduct a home safety check.
Q : Is this program the same as CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)
A: No, this is a basic disaster preparedness course that provides information on how to prepare for, survive through and recover from disaster for you and your family.
